I know it doesn’t make sense, but it happened! I also sold my left eye to pay for the tools and weapons I needed to become the bounty hunter that stands before yee! I am the paradigm of hunting bounties! Wait — no! Don’t walk away!!

OK — no, don’t ask me how I got aboard your ship. I am telling yee, there’s a lot yee don’t realize about being a bounty hunter in the world of Arcane Odyssey. And I’m willing to teach you everything you need to know to succeed more than even myself. Well … that might be a stretch. But, at the very least you’ll be a formidable force in this seafarin’ world, or your money back! OK, that also might be a stretch.

In these here waters, there are two things you need to keep an eye on: Fame and Bounty. You earn Fame anytime you complete a quest or perform some other act of heroism. Meanwhile, your Bounty goes up if and when you do something undesirable. If you want to be a proper bounty hunter, you probably want to make sure you’re not exclusively doing good deeds or bad, but a healthy mix of the two. If you’re not sure what that means … maybe stick to bein’ a goody two-shoes.

But, if you aren’t as concerned with bein’ a bounty hunter, then it’s ultimately up to you whether you want to prioritize Fame or Bounty. If you’re curious what kinds of actions will result in your Fame or Bounty increasing or decreasing, well:

Actions That Will Increase Fame

• If you take out another player with a bounty, this will look good in the eyes of the public.
• Completing quests throughout the world of Arcane Odyssey.

Actions That Will Increase Bounty

• If you take out another player with positive acclaim, the public’ll turn on you.
• If you take out another player who also has a bounty, that won’t look good.
• Theft of private property.

In any case, a lot of that may come as no surprise to anyone with an ounce of common sense. What’s important to consider when plotting out your course is that there are things you can and cannot do with a bounty on your head. In fact, life can get a little bit painful if you do, though there are certainly benefits that come along with the price tag.

For example, if you have a bounty, you can’t buy cargo while visiting islands — sure, you can steal said cargo, but it adds even more to your bounty. To add, the regular shops and shipwrights that you can use without a bounty will refuse you service. So, you’ll have to resort to using the … shadier … shipwrights and shops if you have any particular needs. To make matters worse, if you happen to be an exceptional criminal with a bounty that exceeds 50,000 … well, I’ll just say … don’t get caught.

All that to say … if you don’t want that to happen to yee, you’ll learn to prevent your bounty from reaching those lofty heights. It might be difficult, but abiding by your conscience (or just self-preservation) will help you to avoid meeting a similar end to Ernesto the Violent. Who’s Ernesto? That’s my point.
