What are the Yellow PokeStops in Pokemon Go?

All that glitters is gold.

The Pokemon Gimmighoul was announced shortly before the launch of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and immediately became a sensation thanks to its adorable appearance. While you’ve been able to find this Pokemon in those games for a while now, it’s been absent from Pokemon Go. That’s officially changed, and the world has changed with it. So, what are the yellow PokeStops in Pokemon Go?

What are the Yellow PokeStops in Pokemon Go?

If you’re walking around and you see the usual blue color of a PokeStop replaced by a shining yellow-gold sheen, your game isn’t glitching out. With the arrival of Gimmighoul to Pokemon Go, as well as its evolved form Gholdengo, a new gameplay mechanic has been added to Pokemon Go that specifically affects PokeStops.

What Are Gold PokeStops?

Officially identified as Gold PokeStops, these special PokeStops are under the influence of either a Golden Lure or a special event. When a Golden Lure Module is deployed at a PokeStop, any passerby that spin the sign, in addition to the usual goodies that a PokeStop sign drops, will receive Gimmighoul Coins. If you give 999 Gimmighoul Coins to a Gimmighoul, it will evolve into a Gholdengo. Additionally, any PokeStop with an active Golden Lure Module will dispense even more assorted items than usual when spun, and if you’re lucky, a Roaming Form Gimmighoul may spawn nearby! During special occasions, PokeStops can also turn gold on their own, though Gimmighouls won’t appear in this circumstance.

How to Get a Golden Lure Module

If you’re looking to do some golden sign spinning yourself, you’ll need your own Golden Lure Module. You can obtain a Golden Lure Module, as well as Gimmighoul Coins and a Roaming Gimmighoul encounter, by sending postcards from Pokemon Go to a copy of Pokemon Scarlet or Pokemon Violet.

Whenever you fire off a postcard, you’ll have a chance to receive a reward in return, and after you send a bunch of postcards, you may receive a Golden Lure Module. The only catch here is that you can only hold one Golden Lure Module at a time; if you already have one, you’ll only receive Gimmighoul Coins from postcards until it’s used up.

Whether you’re looking to catch a Gimmighoul or just love that golden sheen in the sunlight, take advantage of Gold PokeStops whenever you pass one by!
