Can You Play as a Female Character in Sons of the Forest? Answered

Sons of the Forest was released on Steam on February 23rd and its predecessor garnered some criticism due to the lack of customization. Fans of the game were curious if things were going to change with the new game.

The original game didn’t allow you to change your gender or even your race, so as you can see, that was problematic. With gamers being diverse we want to feel immersed in our game. This was similar to when The Division released character models, and we couldn’t pick a character that looked like us. Now that the game has multiplayer fans all over are wondering if you can finally play as a female or of a different race. Can you play as a female character in Sons of Forest? We have the answers for you.

Character Customization Sons of the Forest

This might come as a shocker, or not, to whoever is reading this but Sons of the Forest decided not to have character customization included in their game. It exists but it’s very limited we should say. All of the characters look the same, meaning, they have the same character models. Not a female in sight. Just some white guy wearing different versions of an outfit.

This is problematic for players who want to play someone of a different race or gender. As the game continues, we’ll have more information but it looks like Sons of the Forest decided to stick with the same character models.

The game is available now on Steam and you will get to play it on Playstation 5, Playstation 4, and Xbox after early access. The version you can play on Steam is an early-access game. This means it will take some time before console players are able to play it.
