The sequel to the hit sandbox game The Forest has released in early access under the name Sons of The Forest. In this game, you are tasked with finding and rescuing a very wealthy person who was stranded on an island. In this survival horror game, you can brave the forest alone or with a group of friends. The game aims to emulate the creative nature of Minecraft, while mixing in the unnerving and spooky setting of a horror game. A game where players can essentially start any way they see fit. Because of this, many players looking to start their perilous journeys have been wondering: how long is Sons of The Forest?
How Long is Sons of The Forest? Answered
Many fans speculate that much like the first game, in order to complete the story of Sons of The Forest, you’ll need to find KEY ITEMS. These will pertain to certain parts of the world that you can’t access without these items. Sadly, unlike a normal single-player story game, Sons of The Forests’ runtime is a bit ambiguous. The game boasts about having the 4 seasons in the game. And over time, the game will swap between these seasons, mimicking how to seasons change in real life.

The developers state that you can perform different tasks depending on the season. However at the end of the day, the amount of time it takes to beat Sons of The Forest will be based on the person/persons playing. Like other sandbox games such as Minecraft and Grounded, there are a plethora of game mechanics and features for players to get lost in. The game chooses not to hold your hand even in the beginning, as a way of letting the player know the playtime is entirely dependent on how they play.
You could try and speed-run the game and finish it in a few hours or less, or you could get lost in the crafting, collecting, or changing of the seasons and put 40 hours into the game. At the end of the day, deciding how long it’s going to take to finish the story of Sons of The Forest is entirely up to the players, a choice that many are happy they get to make.
