How to Get More Ammo in Cyberpunk 2077

Night City is a generally unpleasant place. Everyone’s modded to the gills, morality is more of a gentle suggestion than an outright rule, and there are bullets flying everywhere at just about any given time. But bullets don’t grow on trees; sooner or later, you’ll need to take a break from the firefight to reload. Luckily, being an unpleasant place means Night City offers lots of places to score ammo.

How to Get More Ammo in Cyberpunk 2077

There are three ways to get more ammo in Cyberpunk 2077:

  • Buy ammo at weapons shops
  • Craft your own ammo
  • Loot crates for ammo

If you’ve played pretty much any looter shooter/action RPG, then you probably know instinctively where you can get more bullets for your guns. If those instincts haven’t formed yet, then there are three primary sources to look out for: weapon shops, crafting, and corpses.

Buying Ammo at Weapons Shops

In a city where self-defense is paramount, there are weapons dealers just about everywhere. Whenever your clip is looking a little thirsty, pull up your map and ping the nearest weapon shop. Ammo isn’t actually that expensive, at least for your bog-standard firearms, so it’s good policy to stock up before you go running into a firefight. You’ll more than likely recoup your ammo expenses without too much effort.

Crafting Ammo

If you’re more into homebrew violence, you can craft your own ammo, though this’ll take a little extra work on your part. You’ll need to progress a bit into the game, as well as do some leveling up, before you unlock the crafting option in your character menu. Once you have the option, you can craft anything on the spot as long as you have the materials and Craft Spec (a “recipe” of sorts) for it. For ammo in particular, however, you will need some specific perks.

You can craft Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, and Snipe Rifle Ammo through the crafting menu. All ten ammo types require 10 Common Item Components.

Looting Crates for Ammo

Finally, if money’s tight and you don’t have a hunk of metal in your pants, the city, much like nature in caveman times, will provide. You can find stray bullets in ammo crates around town, and more commonly in spots associated with combat missions. If your enemies are taking shots at you, chances are good they’ve got some bullets they won’t need shortly, so feel free to help yourself to their pockets.

You may not always find the particular ammo you’re looking for in crates or on corpses, but that just means you need to have a good array of guns on you to adapt to any situation. You can’t be picky when a big guy is bearing down on you with a katana.
