Try Changing Your Frame Limit

There are several potential solutions to the problem when dealing with 11642. Any of these could be the solution, so we’ll run through all of the options that you have on the table. Sometimes, the frame limit triggers the error code.

Go to your frame limit in settings and change the frame limit from unlimited to custom, or vice versa, to see if that resolves the issue. If not, let’s move to option No. 2.

Change Display by Messing With Texture and Shaders

Let’s try and try again. For these two options, we’re going to be messing with the On-Demand Texture and Shaders Optimization. The first thing you can try is to turn off On-Demand Texture as it can cause issues. To do so, go to the graphics menu and you’ll find it under the Quality section.

If that doesn’t work, you can also try to restart your shaders optimization. It’s also in the same section as well. After restarting your shaders optimization, be sure to restart everything. You could also try rolling back the graphics cards on your PC, but that would require going to an older version of your graphics card.

Repair Your Game Files

It could be possible that your game files are corrupted, causing the issue. If so, you will need to repair them. Since the game is available on both Steam and Battle.net, you’ll need to go to either launch portal to repair. On Steam, it’s as simple as clicking properties, and then “Verify Integrity of Game Files” button. On Battle.net, click the settings on the game window then scan and repair.

Reinstall Modern Warfare 2

As much as we hate to say this, sometimes you have to go with the nuclear option. The only solution may be to reinstall MW2 and hope that fixes the issue. It’s a pain, but it may be a necessary one.
