But Fire Emblem Engage isn’t like other games and even offers a difficulty that’s upped even above “Hard”. That difficulty is called Maddening. But how maddening could it actually be? Well, that’s what we’re going to explain today so that you get an understanding of how hard Maddening is in Fire Emblem Engage.

Fire Emblem Engage – How Hard is Maddening?

When it comes to the difficulty spikes in Fire Emblem Engage, there are actually several major things to take into consideration. The game has three specific difficulty levels; Normal, Hard, and Maddening. So the game already tells you there is no Easy difficulty by having its baseline as Normal. This should be some kind of indication as to how grueling Maddening is going to be.

Normal difficulty is geared more toward newer players, offering them the game without many things that could get in the way of a good time and some light challenges to overcome. There’s a lot more room for mistakes to be made.

The Hard difficult sees some things stripped back, as it’s geared toward experienced players. This includes the fact that enemies have improved stats, there’s a larger number of enemies in battle, and generally fewer times that players are able to rewind in the game. Players that have already had their time with a Fire Emblem game shouldn’t have much difficulty with this one.

However, it’s with the Maddening difficulty where players are really going to feel the heat, as this is most definitely geared to those who want to be truly challenged. Not only are there increases from even Hard, with things such as even more improved enemy stats, even more enemies, and even fewer rewinds, but players are also going to lose out on more of the tutorials as well as being stripped of the ability to save during battles.

So you’re really going to want to be sure that Maddening is the difficulty you’re going to want to go with before journeying forward.
