Dwarf Fortress is one crazy game. You may simply be minding your own business before suddenly a monarch dies and your expedition leader suddenly becomes the queen. In any situation where you have a monarch or a dwarf of high nobility, you’ll need royal rooms in which to satisfy their needs. Royal bedrooms, dining rooms, etc will all need to be fit for their acquired tastes. Here is how to make royal rooms in Dwarf Fortress.

How to make royal rooms in Dwarf Fortress

In Dwarf Fortress, every dwarf of nobility have certain needs that they need fulfilled, and without them, they’ll get bad thoughts. To appease your monarch, you’ll need to fulfil a few extravagant needs. Their bedroom and dining room and any other room they need will have to be of royal quality.

Every one of your rooms and zones will have a value associated with it. The value will be detailed to you through a word, from meagre, to modest, to royal. The value of each room goes up depending of the value of things inside the room. You can assign a broker to be able to see the exact value of rooms in digits as well.

When a room surpasses 10,000 value, then it will be deemed of royal quality, and the monarch using them won’t have bad thoughts. You can do this by having extravagant things in the room, such as encrusted, high-quality furniture made from rare materials, and armour stands adorned with incredible armour encrusted with gems, and engraved walls made from gold. The more valuable the things in the room, the higher the value will go.

One easy to do this is by cramming a load of display cases in the room and filling them with your most valuable possessions and artefacts.

When each required room is of royal quality, your monarch will be happy.
