How to parry your shotgun in Ultrakill

Parrying your own shotgun shells? Preposterous.

Ultrakill is the early access retro action game where you will be blasting away enemies that look as though relics from gaming past. Fast-paced, fun and cathartic, Ultrakill will have you bracing yourself for impact as soon as you load in. Ultrakill is a very skillful game, and there is one manoeuvre, parrying your shotgun, that will serve as a fantastic method to slaughter your foes.

How to parry your shotgun in Ultrakill

Ultrakill is all about gory, bloody deaths and executions. And there is scarcely a better way to impactfully slaughter your foe than parrying your shotgun, also known as a projectile boost, is a great way to perform an express delivery of your bullets to your enemy’s face.

To do this you will need, naturally, your shotgun equipped. The projectile boost can be done with any projectile, but doing it with the shotgun is very fun. When you shoot a shell, you have a very brief moment to parry it, as it will technically be a projectile in your face.

If timed correctly, your parry will coincide with the shotgun shells that are fresh from the chamber and will be rocketed forwards. The screen will jar for a moment, from the sheer power of the impact, before zooming forwards. This packs a real punch and is a great way to add range and power to your shotgun, being able to effectively snipe foes from a distance.

It takes practice, but is possible. Try not to parry after you shoot, but almost simultaneously shoot and parry. You will quickly get the hang of it. Soon, it will become a vital part of your weaponry, and you’ll have a hard time not shooting the shotgun without parrying the shells that you fire.

Have fun!
