Festival games are always a double-edged sword. Yes, you can have fun doing them, but most of the time they are rigged in order to secure the owner’s money-making. Well, in Chained Echoes this isn’t far from the truth. Prepare for the Festivities by taking part of some classic games inspired by some folk stories and even video games of yore, and secure the Festivities’ currency: the chip. Here is how to get the chips in the Festivities in Chained Echoes.
How Many Chips for Festivities and Where to Get Them
You will take control of Victor, a rich guy that wants to have some fun, and will no doubt to mix with the common folk in order to get it. You will receive 50 chips to begin playing in the Festivities, and you will have to gain the necessary number of chips to exchange them for some items a woman has available. In order to claim a total of six items, you will need 120 chips in total, and to get those chips, you will need to play the Festivities’ games. Here is how to get the chips in the Festivities in Chained Echoes.
- Tumultuous Turtle Touchdown: this is literally a turtle race. There is no rabbit in this case, so don’t expect any moral of this story. Four turtles will race to the end, and the way you will win is to bet on the winning turtle. If you pick the winning turtle, you will earn 30 chips. Quite simple right? Well, what if I tell you there is a way you can always win the turtle race? Well, you can either pay a shady guy north of the racetrack to tell you this, or you can continue reading. What you need to do is speak to the turtles. Each one of them will answer you with “turtle” with varying degrees of enthusiasm and emotion. When you find a turtle that answers you “TURTLE”, that means you have found the winning turtle. This reminds me of the dog race in Majora’s Mask. Anyway, bet on the winning turtle and you will win your 30 chips. This is the fastest way of earning chips, but make sure to speak with the turtles each time because the order will change every time.
- Dapple Devour: dapple-eating contest? Sign me up. You will be presented with a plate filled with dapples. Each plate done will grant you 1 chip. All you have to do is mash a button. If you are very well-trained thanks to those hours spent in Mario Party during your childhood, you will be able to gain 20 chips for every game of Dapple Devour. If your stomach can take it, that is.
- Rock-Paper-Scissors: the Champ is the master of RPS (Rock-Paper-Scissors) and you need to beat him to gain some chips. Standard RPS rules apply: Rock beats Scissors, Scissors beat Paper, and Paper beats Rock. You will need to beat him two out of three times to get your chips. This could get pretty random, but actually it is far from it. Talk to the people around the Champ and you will learn three things about his play style:
- The Champ will never play Paper after Rock.
- He will attempt to use all three hand signals in a game.
- The Champ will never use the same signal twice in a row.
- While it may sound extremely complicated, it really isn’t, again. Basically, the Champ will always use the next sequence: Rock, Scissors, Paper. SO you better play Paper, Rock, Scissors, in that order. Once you beat the Champ, you will be rewarded with 55 chips if you beat him after previously failing or 50 chips if you beat him in your first try.

Once you get your 120 chips, you will be able to purchase all the six items you need. Or that will appear so. You see, you will be ripped off by the woman selling the items and will run off with Victor’s chips. You will then control the woman called Sienna, and you will try to make some profit out of those chips. Good luck doing that, my con friend.
