All Secret Areas in River City Girls 2

If there’s one thing I know about Wayforward, it’s that they love to cram their sidescrolling beat-em-up games with secrets. It was like that for River City Girls, and unsurprisingly, it’s like that for River City Girls 2 as well, with one instance being the game’s many secret areas. Here are all the secret areas in River City Girls 2.

All Secret Areas in River City Girls 2

In River City Girls 2, every district of the city has its own secret area, a little room whose entrance is either hidden or not immediately obvious. Within these secret areas are floating cartridges that, when picked up, cause special recruit characters to appear somewhere in the city for your hiring pleasure. These include Alex and Ryan from the original River City Ransom, NOIZE, the rock-star boss from the first River City Girls, and Kebako of Wayforward’s Cat Girl Without Salad.

Note that not every cartridge unlocks a recruit character. Whenever one appears, you’ll get a text message with their location and a sidequest marker. The only exception to this is Kebako, who appears in the Mysterious Hallway next to the bank in Crosstown.

Crosstown Secret Area

This secret is found at the Carousel, found past the under-construction area of the mall. Stand on the platform in front of the carousel and wait for the gold-colored horse to come around. As it approaches, hold the light attack button to pass into the secret area.

Uptown Secret Area

This is an easy one. Visit the pawn shop past the basement, accessible from the Toy District. Stand on the shelf in front of the open vent and hold the light attack button to enter.

Downtown Secret Area

This one requires a bit of finesse. Visit the back alley on the far left side of Downtown, the same place you can access the district’s hideout. At the bottom of the scene, perform a wall jump off wall above the exit to land on top of the power line. Walk all the way to the left (use the D-pad instead of the stick so you don’t accidentally step off), and hold the light attack button in front of the fire exit door.

Flatirons Secret Area

This one’s a bit annoying. Go to the waterfall area right below the campgrounds on the far right side of Flatirons. To the right of the scene’s entrance, there are some waterfalls you can walk behind. Stand behind the waterfall that has a slightly brighter coloration and jump to the right to land on a platform, then jump back to the left to land on a higher platform, where you can enter the secret area. You’re probably going to need to employ some trial and error here.

Technos Secret Area

This one’s nice and simple. Visit the VR Room in Technos, right past the Bio-Sphere. Punch the cowboy standing to the right of the cantina, and he’ll drop a key. Go over to the outhouse to the left of the cantina, and you can hold the light attack button to go inside.

River City High School Secret Area

In the Solitary area of River City High, you’ll see a line of doors that open and close randomly. In the middle of the line is a yellow door; stand in front of it, and hold the light attack button as it swings open to enter the secret area.

Sanwakai Tower Secret Area

In the Mao Sushi restaurant located in the middle of Sanwakai Tower, stand on the conveyer belt and perform a wall jump to reach the second floor of the room. Run to the left and jump up onto the windowsill. Walk to the end of the windowsill, and you’ll find a doorway you can enter.

Keep in mind that even after you unlock the special recruits, they will still require money to hire. Alex and Ryan cost $50 to hire, while NOIZE and Kebako cost $100.
