Midnight Suns is a collaboration from Marvel and 2k games bringing the Marvel universe into a tactical turn-based strategy game. Of course with characters taken from Marvel Comics, there is a plenitude of outfits and inspirations for the game to use. Changing up the looks of your favorite hero is a feature plenty of fans request from any game, though we’ll be looking at the cosmetics that require real-world money. Blade

Default: 4/5

As far as outfits for Blade goes, this is the bread and butter. There’s not much to get wrong, leather coat, red accents, and nice looking shades. This is the definitive version of the nightwalker, and for some you can’t get better than that.

Nightstalker: 4/5

For those looking for a more classic interpreation of Blade, this is the outfit for you. Harkening back to a more simple time, this outfit ditches the tactical look of the default and is more in line with Blade’s first adventures in comics. Just as cool looking, this and the Default are equally nice to wear into battle.

Blade 1602: 2/5

For most of the medieval sets presented to players, they either work, or they don’t. In Blade’s case, it doesn’t work out that well. While they do keep his coat, the armor he wears clashes with his main colors. Were the breastplate black, it would fix a lot of issues this suit has.

Demon Hunter: 4/5

The Demon Hunter suit for Blade introduces Blade to the future, and it totally nails it. Giving Blade a cyberpunk look wasn’t something I expected, but it works out. The black and grey tones help sell the idea of a covert demon hunter in the future.

Captain America

Default Outfit: 4/5

It’s the standard Captain America outfit that everyone has come to know and love. It’s a look that’s instantly recognizable in comics, given a little MCU flair. Equal parts tactical uniform and inspiring look, you can’t get anymore patriotic than this.

Captain of the Guard: 3/5

The Captain of the Guard suit is a medieval take on Cap that works on some areas, on others not so much. The cape is an awesome addition as well as the winged helmet. The shield is iffy however, and this suit just begs to have Steve wielding Mjolnir.

Future Solider: 2/5

This is supposed to be a futuristic take on the Captain, or perhaps one funded by Tony Stark, but there’s simply too much going on to truly enjoy it. The shield is bulky, Roger’s suit is overdesigned. It’s a big shift in Captain America’s design, but not in the right way

Captain Marvel

Default Outfit: 4/5

As far as going with base standard looks, you can’t go wrong with this interpretation. Looking like it’s straight out of the comic books, this interpretation of Captain Marvel’s suit hits all the notes on what it needs to be without any fuss.

Mar-Vell: 3/5

A suit that harkens back to the first Captain Marvel. Taking inspiration to the comics of the golden days, it would be a great suit if not for some odd color choices. While they are comic accurate, some variation would help keep the red from being too dominant in the suit.

Medieval Marvel: 3/5

Another suit that harkens to the medieval theming, the Medieval Marvel suit does a decent job of presenting that theme to players. Though it feels a bit lacking, and the head gear Carol wears is hit or miss for many.

Doctor Strange

Default 4/5:

Doctor Strange’s default outfit is everything that it needs to be. Offering a look that is comic accurate while allowing the developers to give their own spin on it. Strange’s cape is bold and present, and the gold accents really help make it pop.

Defenders Outfit: 4/5

As far as taking inspiration for outfits from the comics Defender Strange is one of the best examples. Instantly recognizable and iconic, the colors work really well together to give Strange a look that stands out from the rest. The lack of a cape is off-putting for Strange, but understandable given this outfit.

Future Supreme: 2/5

While the name of this suit implies a future theming, there’s nothing really much that says that in this suit. the gold accents are nice, but it doesn’t do much to save what is essentially a blue bodysuit. The cape is always a nice touch, but more could have been done to really make this a suit from the future.

Ghost Rider

Default: 5/5

Given that this is Robbie Reyes’ first appearance in a major Marvel game it’s hard to mess up his comic outfit. Looking like an exact match, the game gets down every single detail. Even his skull giving off a metallic sheen. It’s hard to consider switching to another outfit given how perfect this one already is.

Death Knight: 1/5

Again taking inspiration from medieval theming, this outfit does not execute it at all. Clearly taking inspiration from a suit of armor, this skin takes away any sense of identity that Ghost Rider has. Were it not for the flaming skull, he would be unrecognizable.

Spirit of Vengeance: 4/5

For fans of the Ghost Rider who prefer the Johnny Blaze interpreation over Robbie Reyes, this is the skin for you. Nailing Blaze’s outfit, this does everything it needs to. Though with having Reyes as the Ghost Rider, it seems odd to have an outfit of a completely different person.

Hulk

Default: 4/5

It’s hard to mess up Hulk’s classic outfit, all it needs is some purple shorts. The mean green machine has his classic look pulled straight from the comics, and for some, that’s all they need, though compared to his other suits, you’ll definitely want to change as soon as you can.

Fallen Hulk: 4/5

Being the bad guy can be fun, and with this suit, you can get a taste for it. Originally worn by Hulk while under the control of Lilith, this reimagining of the Hulk is awesome to see. The horns and flame on top of his head are an excellent touch, and the purple acting as armored skin is great to see in action.

Maestro: 5/5

Arguably one of the best interpretations of the Maestro visually, this suit for the Hulk is arguably one of the best in the game. Telling a story of beaten foes, the Maestro wears mementos of beaten rivals. From the skulls of Iron Man and Ghost Rider, to Cap’s shield being a pauldron and Spidey’s suit at his waist, this is one gamma powered being you don’t want to mess with.

Iron Man

Default: 4/5

This interpretation of Iron Man gets what a lot of designs seem to miss, Iron Man is a suit of armor. it’s supposed to be a bit bulky to offer protection while still granting movement. Stark’s armor looks sleek and powerful, and the arc reactor is shaped uniquely.

Bleeding Edge Armor: 4/5

A suit pulled straight from the comics, the Bleeding Edge armor represents what Tony defines as the “Bleeding Edge” of his tech. The several repulsors along the armor is a nice touch, and rides the perfect balance between protection and mobility.

Iron Knight: 3/5

The past and future collide with this suit for Iron Man, there are other suits with the same theme that executes this idea better. While the all white coloring for this armor is a nice touch, it doesn’t feel like an Iron Man suit.

Magik

Default: 3/5

Default Magik is decent enough for players as is. An X-Men uniform adorned with armor and denim vest, that’s what makes Magik Magik. Though when compared to some of the other skins available for her, players will be wanting to switch outfits quickly.

New Mutants: 4/5

The New Mutants outfit does everything that the Default does and amplifies it. The colors are much more present in this suit, and does not clash with the armor. Being such an improvement, I wonder why this wasn’t the default outfit in the first place.

Phoenix Five: 5/5

This is one of the better examples of taking a suit from the comics. The Phoenix Five suit is a great homage to when Magik was granted a portion of the Phoenix Force. The colors work well together, the phoenix crest is amazing, and who doesn’t love a flaming sword?

Nico Minoru

Default: 3/5

Fans of Nico Minoru will be able to recognize her anywhere. Though without her staff, Nico would look pretty normal. I suppose that is the point, though when introduced to other suits that Nico can wear, this one feels rather lackluster in comparison.

Shadow Witch: 5/5

This outfit completely changes the look of Nico, in the best ways possible. Giving her a truly unique outfit that makes her stand out from the rest, it’s hard not to be intimidated by this one. Only able to see her eyes, paired with the unique staff, easily make this suit one of the must haves.

Sisters Grimm: 1/5

It’s astounding to see one character have both arguably the best and worst suits in the game. With the Sisters Grimm suit, you would prefer to keep the Default appearance on Nico. Additionally, with the Shadow Witch outfit available, I don’t see how anyone would prefer using this suit on Nico.

Scarlet Witch

Default: 4/5

This is the quintessential Scarlet Witch that most players should be more than happy with. The all red coloring works great with Wanda, her headpiece is front and center, and gold accents help blend everything together. This screams Scarlet Witch, and is a good suit for beginners and vets of the game.

Boss Witch: 4/5

For fans of the MCU, this suit is a good tribute to Wanda’s first appearances in the movies. Wearing a red leather jacket, this modern interpretation of the Scarlet Witch works surprisingly well. Even though there is no headpiece, red hair at the ends is a nice touch for sure.

Fallen Scarlet Witch: 5/5

Why does going bad always feel so good? This is an absolutely amazing look for the Scarlet Witch. Keeping the mostly red colors with a hint of purple is a great touch. That and having her head piece become horns with a nestle of flaming green hair? That’s a menacing look for any situation.

Spider-Man

Default: 3/5

There’s nothing wrong with this interpretation of Spidey, though for the most part it feels like they’re playing it safe, especially factoring in Insomniac’s version of Spidey. It’s hard to not see lenses that don’t adjust themselves, if anything the eyes remind me of Superior Spider-Man, but this suit does the job it needs to, nothing more.

Demon Spider: 2/5

For a suit named the Demon Spider, you don’t really see much of a demon. If anything this more resembles the Scarlet-Spider than a demon. The idea is cool, but lacks execution. Maybe if the eyes were segmented into eight pieces, but as it stands, there are better outfits for Web Head to wear.

Symbiote Suit: 5/5

I knew this was gonna be a 5/5, and so did you. Need I say more?

Where there is Spidey in a game, a symbiote suit is usually there to follow. It’s hard to beat the classics, and this suit is as much a staple to Spider-Man as his default outfit. An all black outfit just works for Peter, this will be the must have for anyone playing with Spidey in their team.

Wolverine

Default: 4/5

He’s the best at what he does, and what he does is somehow make yellow and brown work together. As classic as classic comes, this default outfit is arguably as iconic and wearable in game as his other two outfits.

Logan: 4/5

Normally heroes in casual wear doesn’t really work out. Logan’s the exception in this case. This look popularized both in comics and movies works well with Wolverine as much as his actual outfit. What’s important is that he doesn’t look out of place.

X-Force: 4/5

Almost as iconic as his classic outfit, the black and grey look sported in this suit is popular with many fans of Logan. Though this outfit is more than that, adding a more tactical look to the Wolverine’s uniform is a great way to separate it from just a simple color palate swap.
