How to Fix Warhammer 40K: Darktide Toughness Bug

Welcome to the Salty Spitoon, How Tough Are Ya?

In Warhammer 40K: Darktide, there are two metrics which will determine your combat survival. One is your general health / hit points. The other is Toughness, which serves as an additional meter above your hit points and acts as armor. As in countless other games, the idea here is for Toughness/Armor to block — for lack of a better term — all melee damage until the Toughness meter has been depleted.

But, it would seem that many Darktide players are experiencing a bug that prevents Toughness from working as intended. Specifically players who pick classes that stack Toughness. So, what is this bug, and is there a method to fix it? Read on to learn all you need to know about the Warhammer 40K: Darktide Toughness bug.

How to Fix Warhammer 40K: Darktide Toughness Bug

So, it would seem that Toughness ordinarily defaults to 100. And, with each subsequent melee attack, it’s reduced. As soon as it reaches 0, however, the next melee attack will impact the health meter.

It’s here where we can see issues brought on by this bug, especially when it comes to those who play as classes that stack Toughness. In these cases, their Toughness can surpass 100, which should ordinarily be a good thing, but because of this bug, it’s a detriment. If the player stacks Toughness so it’s above the standard of 100 (or if they play as a class that automatically sets it higher than 100), the bug will make it so every melee attack will not only reduce Toughness, but it will also reduce health as well.

Alas, it doesn’t look like there’s a surefire method of fixing this bug. Aside from waiting for Fatshark to issue a bugfix, anyway. But, on the bright side, it looks like they are aware of this bug, and are working to fix it! According to a thread posted on r/DarkTide on Reddit, a dev confirmed a fix is coming in the next update. So, it’s just a matter of time at this point until Darktide players can continue stacking Toughness.
