To get acorns, shake cedar trees and pine trees. If you don’t have any of these trees on your island, buy some Cedar Saplings and regular Saplings. Plant them and wait three days for them to grow.

Once the tree is grown, you can walk up to it and shake it. You can shake any tree up to ten times, but keep shaking it until nothing else falls out if you lose count. Eventually, you will see an acorn fall out of one of the trees you shake.

Be sure to carry a net with you because there’s a chance you shake out a nest of wasps! Having a net handy will allow you to catch them rather than get stung and sent back to your house. If you shake pine trees, you can use this same method to find pinecones.

Acorns are only available for Northern Hemisphere players from September 1 through December 10. If you have many trees directly next to each other, make sure to pick up the items that fall before going on to the next tree. There is a cluttering issue where the next tree does not drop items if there is not enough room on the ground.

Now you know how to get acorns in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Make sure to stockpile them like a squirrel, so you have enough for all the recipes you want!
