The error, for you that are here just out of curiosity, reads as follows: “Connection to the Battle.net game server has been lost. Please exit and try again”. Blizzard (like in, Activision Blizzard) are well aware of the issue and have cataloged this error as common and say that it ” indicates an issue with your connection to the Call of Duty servers.” Now, whether that’s true or not (servers could be down or even a bug can be happening), here is what they recommend doing:

  • Check the BlizzardCS Twitter for any service interruptions.
  • Make sure you launch the game through the Battle.net Desktop App.
  • Make sure you are logged in with the correct Battle.net account.
  • Check your internet connection.

I think those are valid, however I would also suggest doing the following:

  • Check to see if Activision’s servers are down. Select Modern Warfare 2 and see its current status.
  • Restart the game and the system to ensure a reconnection to MW2 servers.
  • Try connection or disconnecting a VPN service.
  • If nothing else works, you could wait for the issue to resolve, or you could contact Activision’s support team.
