Can You Play The Unliving in Steam Deck?

Compatibility is the name of the game. Which game? The video game-game. Being able to use your favorite controller, and even consoles for that matter, is something that will be extremely beneficial for your gaming experience. That is the case for both the player and developer. Nowadays, universality is something that players want. Besides some exceptions, exclusivity is now viewed as something that limits the player’s ability to enjoy a game. Having said that, The Unliving is out on Steam and also promises to come out on consoles any time soon. With the Steam Deck becoming more popular by the day and becoming the go-to on the go experience (battling against the Nintendo Switch), one is left to wonder: can you play The Unliving in Steam Deck? Well, I believe I have the answer.

Can You Play The Unliving in Steam Deck?

The ability to play games on the go has been, for a long time, limited to exclusive games made for platforms that had weaker capabilities than those of home consoles. Nowadays, with the arrival of Steam Deck and several other portable consoles, the performance breach is getting really close. Therefore, being able to play The Unliving, alongside several other fan favorites, would be something extremely positive for the game.

Currently, there is no official answer or support from the developers just yet. However, there have been several reports that they have been able to run The Unliving on Steam Deck. And while the last report dates to February 2022 (they ran the game through Proton 7-0.1), there is a possibility that the game will be able to run with no major issues. And the fact that the developers are aware of the question and are currently looking into it is surely reassuring.

Only time will tell, but at least the idea of being a Necromancer on the go is something that appears to be possible. Let’s hope the developers deliver and allow us to bring the undead in our bags. On the Steam Deck, of course.
