The Unliving, the first game developed by Rocket Brush Studios, is a rogue-lite action role-playing game. That alone for some people would answer the question at hand. However, we know that each game stands on itself, and they are different from the others. What I can assure you right now is that you will have a decent time being a Necromancer, and battling the Church of Zolar will be something you will enjoy doing. So, will this game take you a couple of hours to beat? Maybe hundreds of hours to just get out of the prologue? Will you need several sessions, or complete it in just one sitting? . How Long Does it Take to Beat The Unliving?
There are several factors that you must take into account in order to calculate the time for you to beat The Unliving. The developers themselves have claimed that the game itself takes dozens of hours to complete. However, a complete run through all the levels (currently there are three locations) would take you about a real time hour if you don’t die trying.
Having said that and also having the experience of playing the game myself, I estimate that the game will take you between 15 and 20 hours to complete (at the 8-hour mark I was halfway through). Being an indie game and the first for the developer, I think that’s a good amount of content and a good runtime. Of course, if you have a little more skill than I do (and believe me, you do), maybe you can push through the game a little bit faster. If you’re a completionist, then it could take you a little more. But like I said, 15 to 20 hours is what I calculate to be the sweet spot for The Unliving.
There are many things to collect, many spells to learn and many dead to be made, well, undead. Become a Necromancer now and enjoy hours of gameplay thanks to The Unliving.
