Stay Out of the House is Puppet Combo’s latest Slash Horror. A throwback to the classic PS1 horror games, with a focus on stealth and puzzle solving. It is more Resident Evil than the latest Village DLC. With gameplay mechanics of limited inventory space and a lot of back-and-forth exploring to solve puzzles, you must build up your resources to escape the House. You have 3 days to escape, or you can try your luck in the Bunker. If you make it there. Everything you pick up in the House is important, from the Revolver to Batteries, Wire Cutters to Duct Tape. Be strategic in what you bring with you on your great escape.
This quick guide will show you how to find and obtain the Revolver in the first portion of the game. It can be picked up within 5-10 minutes after starting Part 3: The House. The Revolver is the only weapon in the game and is very useful to have. Especially if you aren’t the type of player who likes to use stealth from start to finish.
Why Use the Revolver?
You can pick up the Revolver very early in the game as long as you know where to look. The Revolver can help you get away from the Butcher and Baby faster by scaring them off. Now, the bullets cannot kill the villains of the House, but they are best used to keep them at bay. The Revolver can extend your chances of surviving. Keep in mind that you will need to regularly put bullets in the chamber. You can do this by pressing R with the Revolver equipped and dragging the bullets (seen top left of the screen) into each slot. Bullets can be found around the House. In cabinets and chests of drawers, most hidden behind a lock. To open these locks, you will need a Hex Key and paper clips.
Location of the Revolver
The Revolver’s location is on the second floor, near where you started the game. If you were to exit the starting room through its door (unlocking it on the other side by going through the Closet) you will see a boarded-up door to your right in the corridor. You will need to pull off the wooden boards with a hammer.
Hammer Location
The best and quickest way of obtaining a hammer is by going downstairs and checking the chest of drawers directly beside the front door. Be careful to not get spotted by the Granny as the front room (the room next to the front door) is her spawn spot. Keep your lighter off and simply crouch and walk to the chest of drawers to obtain the Hammer.
Getting into the Boarded-up Room
Return to the second floor and go straight back to the starting area. You will want to do this quickly so that the Butcher and Granny do not have time to start patrolling these areas. The longer you take to do this task the more likely you will have to try and get around both of them. There are 4 wooden boards on the door and 2 nails that you will need to remove one by one. You will get an animation every time you remove a nail so keep an ear out for anyone coming up behind you. We recommend that you remove the nails in the dark to reduce the Butcher and Granny’s chances of seeing you. Once you have removed all the wooden boards you can now enter the room.
In this room, there is a body on the bed, a note, and the Revolver. To your left you will see a Closet door, go inside and remove the nails from the wooden boards covering a hatch. The hatch is very helpful, just like the vents in the game but beware. If the Butcher sees you and you try to escape in the vents/hatch, he will use poisonous gas to lure you into his cleaver’s embrace.
