Star Ocean: The Divine Force has been released on multiple platforms including the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and Microsoft Windows. With the latter, it is available on Valve’s Steam, and that begs the question – is it also readily available on the Steam Deck upon its release?
As the latest tri-Ace JRPG from the beloved franchise of the long-running Star Ocean series, it has been quite the wait for long-time fans to see a new title from the IP. The last one released titled Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness came out in 2016, so it is more than understandable how and why The Divine Force is so hotly anticipated as its latest entry. It’s no wonder why players are wanting and intending to play it on the go, so here’s if you can do that.
Can you play Star Ocean: The Divine Force on Steam Deck?
The short answer is yes, Star Ocean: The Divine Force is available to purchase, download and play via your Steam Deck. But be warned because current players are actively experiencing issues with playing the newly released game on the Steam Deck. But be warned, some players are running into issues.
The game is able to download and be played on the Steam Deck, but it is currently lagging and stuttering for the majority of its players. It has been mentioned that it is failing to compile shaders properly. Disabling this may help you run the game on your Steam Deck, but for now, a patch or update from the developers may be needed.
All we can suggest is to stick to playing it on your PC or laptop for the time being. That is unless you are happy enough playing through the delayed input or watching the smooth and undisturbed cutscenes are enough for you.
