Where to Find Finneon in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

The lakes, ponds, and seas of Sinnoh are absolutely lousy with seafaring Pokémon. All you gotta do is bust out the rod, chuck it in the water, and in an hour’s time, you’ll have a full party of fishy Pokémon and more. However, since there are so many fish Pokémon, it can occasionally be a bit difficult to get a lead on a particular one. As such, here’s where to find Finneon in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Like most aquatic Pokémon, Finneon can be encountered by using a fishing rod in a body of water, either on one of the game’s Routes or in certain cities and landmarks. However, compared to the likes of Magikarp, Finneon is a bit more discerning; you can only fish one up by using a Good Rod, an upgrade over the first fishing rod you get, the Old Rod.

How to get the Good Rod in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

To get a Good Rod in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to Route 209, east of Hearthome City
  2. Find the large body of water with docks on it
  3. Talk to the fisherman NPC, and he’ll give you the Good Rod

All you need to do to get a Good Rod is to pay a visit to a particular fisherman found near Hearthome City, specifically on Route 209. There’s a big body of water on that Route, hanging off of which are a handful of docks. You’ll find the fisherman on one of those docks, and after a quick chat, he’ll fork over the Good Rod.

Finneon Locations

Once you’ve got the Good Rod, you can go fishing for Finneons in bodies of water in all of the following locations:

  • Route 205
  • Route 218
  • Route 219
  • Route 220
  • Route 221
  • Valley Windworks
  • Fuego Ironworks
  • Canalave City
  • Iron Island

Bear in mind that even with the Good Rod, you aren’t guaranteed to land a Finneon. If you don’t get the Pokémon you want, just catch it or defeat it and try again. Finneon isn’t super rare, so you should fish one up sooner or later.
