It’s fairly clear what most evolutionary stones in Pokémon games represent. Thunder Stones are electricity, Dusk Stones are darkness, Leaf Stones are grass, and so on. I’m not quite sure what Dawn Stones are supposed to represent, though. I guess daylight, though Sun Stones are already a thing. The evolutions they trigger don’t exactly inspire much in the way of “daylight” either. Well, nonsensical or not, you still need ‘em for evolving stuff, so here’s where to find Dawn Stones in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Dawn Stones are used for two very particular evolutionary paths:
- Evolving a male Kirlia into a Gallade
- Evolving a female Snorunt into a Froslass
A limited usage, for sure, but in fairness, both Gallade and Froslass are pretty cool Pokémon, so it’s worth it. There are three static locations you can find a Dawn Stone at, one in Mt. Coronet, one in the post-game Battle Frontier, and one in a specific spot in the Grand Underground.
Where to Find Dawn Stones in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Upon entering Mt. Coronet from Route 207, head south and follow the path all the way down and to the right. When you’re next to the water, use Surf to keep going to the right, and you’ll find the Dawn Stone on the ground.
After reaching Snowpoint City, you’ll unlock a new section of the Grand Underground. If you enter the Underground from Snowpoint and make your way all the way to the southeastern point of the map, you’ll find a biome called Whiteout Cave. You’ll find a Dawn Stone sitting on the ground in this area.
After you’ve beaten the Elite Four and gained access to the Battle Frontier, you can find a second Dawn Stone in the Survival Area, specifically on Route 225. Not too far from the entrance into the Route from the Survival Area, there’s a cliff face with a climbable wall on it. Use Rock Climb to scale the wall, and the Dawn Stone will be right there.
These three spots are the only static locations of Dawn Stones in the game. However, you may also obtain Dawn Stones by chance when walking around with Pokémon with the Pickup ability, though the chances of this happening are only around 10%.
