Where to Find Ballast Regulator in Horizon Forbidden West

Let's hope no one has submechanophobia, or else this quest is not going to be fun.

Horizon Forbidden West’s DLC the Burning Shores has introduced a new mechanical mount for Aloy to use on her adventures. This creature, the Waterwing, is acquired through the main DLC story. Specifically, the “For His Amusement” quest. However before you can start slicing through the waves with your new friend, you’ll need to craft a Waterwing override. The quest will instruct you on where to go, but not exactly where to look for the materials needed. We are going to be diving under the waves and figuring out where to find Ballast Regulator in Horizon Forbidden West.

When first starting the quest, you will meet your new companion Seyka on a beach and have a talk about events and what to do next. After deciding they will need to use the Waterwings for their plan, Aloy decides to craft a Waterwing override. This is essential in their plan, and will require a few materials in order to craft. You’ll need a wing membrane and of course, a ballast regulator.

The waypoints will tell you where to go, sadly unlike other quests, this one doesn’t have an exact waypoint. It has an area in its waypoint, meaning, the materials you need are somewhere in that underwater circle. Finding the wing membrane should be simple enough, but with all the terrifying creatures lurking beneath the waters, finding the ballast regulator might be tougher. When searching for the regulator, go towards the west side of the area and you should see a dead Waterwing just next to a drop off. Search the mechanical corpse and in it you should find a ballast regulator. Now you just have to make it out of the water before something eats you. It’s like the beach in real life(I have thalassophobia)!
