Where to Find and How to Use Mirror Herb in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

It is expensive but worth it!

It has never been easier to give Pokémon new moves. In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players are offered a new process of move learning. Through the power of the Mirror Herb. Those who do not have a great understanding of the breeding process in Pokémon can use the Mirror Herb as a means of getting new moves for the Pokémon in your team. Build new move sets and grind that new Pokémon build. Here is where to find and use the Mirror Herb in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

What is a Mirror Herb

The Mirror Herb is a held item in Scarlet and Violet. It is used to give Pokémon new moves through the use of the Picnic function in the game. It is a very useful item to use when giving moves to a Pokémon that cannot naturally learn those moves. This unique new ability, whilst more expensive, can be a better option than breeding with Eggs. Be aware that the Pokémon can only learn an Egg Move with the Mirror Herb from a Pokémon in the same Egg Group. Meaning there are different Egg Moves each Egg Group has to offer.

Where to Find in Scarlet and Violet

The Mirror Herb is located in the Delibird Presents store in Cascarrafa. Players can find Cascarrafa in the North-Western side of the Paldea region. On the border of Asado Desert and to the left of the Great Crater. If you have already travelled to this part, then you can use the fast travel function to get to the Pokémon Centre. Simply go over the bridge on the right of the Centre and you will find Delibird Presents here. The store is overlooking the Desert. This is the only store players can find the Mirror Herb in its inventory. It is available to purchase at 30,000 Pokémon Dollars. Refer to the screenshot below for an exact location of the store (black circle on the map).

An important note, players just starting the game cannot purchase the Mirror Herb. The Herb will be available for purchase much later in the base game. We recommend beating the Gym Leaders first before checking this store’s inventory. Players only need to purchase x1 Mirror Herb to use on the Pokémon in their party. Being able to use this on all of your Pokémon (once per Pokémon) is worth it for the one time purchase. It is simpler to use than that of the usual Pokémon breeding process.

How to Use the Mirror Herb

To use the Mirror Herb players must do five steps:

  • Buy the Mirror Herb in Cascarrafa’s Delibird Presents store (Battle Items inventory).
  • Catch a Pokémon which has the desired move you wish you copy as an Egg Move for the Pokémon in your active party.
  • When both Pokémon are caught. Place Pokémon in your active Party. You can have other Pokémon in the party at the same time and it will not affect the use of the Mirror Herb. This is because the Pokémon with the Herb can only learn moves within its Egg Group.
  • Crucial note: for Pokémon with a full move set, be sure to forget a move from the Pokémon summary to make space for the new move. Go to Move & Stats summary on the Pokémon you wish to use the Herb on by pressing A on the Pokémon you wish to change moves on. Click ‘Check Summary‘ and click right on the D-Pad. On the Moves & Stats page click A and select ‘Forget Moves‘. Now you can select the move you wish for your Pokémon to forget to make space for the Mirror Herb move.
  • Place a Picnic down with your two Pokémon and exit the Picnic function. The move will now be copied.

Learning Egg Moves

For players wanting to know which Egg Moves a Pokémon can be taught, see Serebii.net. From here, search the Pokémon you wish to learn a different move. Maybe you are building a specific move set to take on the Tera Raids or the Black Tera Charizard. Either way this information is not available in Scarlet and Violet so players should head to Serebii to find out a Pokémon Egg Move. From here players can learn which moves can be copied through the Mirror Herb and look for the Pokémon to catch who holds the move you desire.
