It was back in June when BioWare made the big announcement that fans would yet again be able to enter the World of their iconic franchise, Dragon Age. With a new title in the works called Dragon Age: DreadWolf, this would serve as the series’ fourth installment following 2014’s Dragon Age Inquisition.
Though there’s been no release date given up, and BioWare has been very transparent about it not releasing earlier than it needs to, fans have been speculating whether or not there would be a beta for this game ahead of its eventual release. Well, is there? Allow us to explain!
When is Dragon Age: DreadWolf Getting a Beta?
Though BioWare has faced adversity in recent years with rocky launches from titles like Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, it doesn’t seem to be slowing the company down, even with major staff departures also affecting production along the way.
And while there hasn’t been much said about Dragon Age: DreadWolf, its story, or even its antagonist, we’ve finally received an update on the game’s production in a new blog post on the official EA website. In this blog post, BioWare’s General Manager, Gary McKay speaks to the hard work and dedication of his team as well as letting fans know that they’ve hit their Alpha Milestone for the game.
But does this mean that there’s an alpha or beta for fans to play now? Not likely, at least, not for now. This alpha phase serves as a way for the developers to play the game, and tweak things for when players eventually do get their hands on it themselves.

He stated that in this phase, the game is actually playable to a certain extent, from its start through to its finish. McKay also stated that players are going to see more of this world than ever before, such as the city of Minrathous which, up to this point, has only been mentioned in previous Dragon Age titles.
So, while there isn’t a beta in mind right now, that doesn’t mean that players won’t see something closer to launch, but that would most likely not come until a set release date has been given for the game. With titles like Call of Duty, betas happen a month or so before launch, so this should give players a much clearer indication of when such a thing could be playable if BioWare has it in the cards for them.
But that’s all there really is to know right now as far as a beta would be concerned for Dragon Age: DreadWolf. Be sure to stick with Gamer Journalist for more coverage of the game as it breaks!
