Red Barrels’ The Outlast Trials, the upcoming prequel for both the original Outlast and its sequel Outlast 2 set during the Cold War era of brainwashing and mind control, is soon to be released. Or that’s what we hope for. After all, we have experienced a 2017 Outlast 3 announcement (with no time frame or dates), a 2019 teaser for The Outlast Trials, an initial release date for 2021 and then an updated release date (aka: a delay) for 2022. If that’s not a bumpy road, then I don’t know what is. Anyway, with a Closed Beta in October, we can only imagine the game is to be released this year, right? Right? Let’s figure out when does The Outlast Trials release.
When Does The Outlast Trials Release?
I hate being the bearer of bad news, but someone has to do this. And that’s me, so here we go. Although a Closed Beta is running from October 28 to November 1, nothing else has been announced! Not a release date, not even on which platforms will the game be available on (other than Steam). And taking into account the history of non-disclosed information as I said before, these are indeed bad news. When does The Outlast Trials release, you ask? We don’t have a clue, but we can only hope that Red Barrels delivers with its Q4 2022 approximate ETA.
The most recent example that could shed a light onto us is Modern Warfare 2’s open beta which took place in September, with the game being released in October. So maybe (and that’s a huge maybe), we could expect The Outlast Trials to be released in November or December. Yet again, this is only conjecture, but that’s all we have right now. Don’t worry, though, I’ll keep you posted on any news.
The Outlast Trials is expected to be released in Q4 2022 and will be available on Steam (more platforms TBA).
