As a 90s kid, I have a very particular fondness for a certain kind of animation: the kind that’s high-speed, frenetic, wiggly and wavey, and downright bizarre. I’ve also got fond memories of classic platformer games like Wario Land and Earthworm Jim. Considering all that, you know what sounds like a great time to me? A little game called Pizza Tower. So, when does Pizza Tower release?
When Does Pizza Tower Release?
Pizza Tower is an indie game that’s been in development since 2018, originally by a single enigmatic individual known as “Pizza Tower Guy” before blossoming into an entire project by development team Tour De Pizza. I admit I’ve been keeping a casual eye on this game’s development over the years, and after a lengthy and mysterious creation, I’m excited to say it’s almost ready.

Pizza Tower has secured an official Steam page for itself, where it is slated to release to the public on January 26, 2023.
What is Pizza Tower?
In Pizza Tower, you play as Peppino Spaghetti, the “supersonic Italian middle-aged man,” as the game page calls him. Peppino needs to conquer the titular Pizza Tower in order to save his struggling pizza restaurant from going out of business, and he’ll personally smash anyone or anything that gets in his way.
The many floors of the tower are laid out in such a way that you can dash at high speed, then use Peppino’s impressive acrobatic abilities to leap and bound over and through enemies and obstacles. In a similar vein to Wario Land, Peppino can’t die, and in fact, certain kinds of misfortune will actually bestow him with new and strange abilities.
All of this is backed up by a hand-drawn frenetic art style reminiscent of shows like Oh Yeah! Cartoons and Ed, Edd, n’ Eddy and a high-speed soundtrack that only gets faster and crazier as you go.
