What’s the Difference Between Ragnarok Origin and Ragnarok Origin Global?

Differences are hiding in plain sight.

Ragnarok Origin original game (using NA and Japan/South Korea servers) has launched its new edition called Ragnarok Origin Global (using global servers) which will allow even PC players to join in the fun of this RPG game. Even though the game’s developers meant to just widen the audience for an already great game, there are quite a few differences between these two.

If you were to google “Ragnarok Origin” you would get one of the two websites that we linked to depending on where you are. But, as we discovered, you will have a different gaming experience depending on which site you visited. Read on to fully understand the difference between Ragnarok Origin classic version and the Ragnarok Origin Global.

What Features Are Different in Ragnarok Origin Global?

In short, we could say that the original mobile Ragnarok Origin is a more complete version of the game when compared to Ragnarok Origin Global. The new Global edition that launched on April 6, 2023, has only a single line of job upgrades/subclasses.

For example, in the original Ragnarok Origin that you can play only on mobile the Swordsman class branches out into two specializations. One is Knight > Lord Knight and the other one is Crusader> Paladin. The Ragnarok Origin Global game has only Knight > Lord Knight subclass option.

It is the same with every class. The old game has two or more options while the Global edition has only one line for upgrading your character’s jobs. Even though the above-described differences aren’t small, we believe that developers will straighten those out and that ultimately we will all have one final version of the game where everybody will get to enjoy the same features.

Another difference worth mentioning is that some of the quests are shorter in the new Global version of the game where you still follow the same story but just need to do fewer tasks. It doesn’t exactly take away any part of the story as the dialogues are the same, it just hastens up the storyline. The idea behind that was probably that the global audience will like a much quicker and snappier game.

Should I play the Ragnarok Origin Global?

Even though Ragnarok Origin Global has narrowed down your choices for class specialization, we still believe you should play the Ragnarok Origin Global game, especially if you’re a new player. Subclasses available in the Global edition of the game are the original classes and it will be easier for you to familiarize yourself with the characters and the game while playing those.

Ultimately, everything else is exactly the same between these two games and when they will have become the same game is just a matter of time since some of the unavailable content for the Global version has been spotted in its code already. This means that preparations are well underway and everyone will be getting the same RPG experience soon.
