Here’s some things to take into consideration if you seem to be hanging around for longer than usual. They are not perfect fixes and are instead aspects to take onboard to improve your experience with the game. Since the servers tend to now be fully stable and unproblematic, long queue times are something we can explain but are still out of our control.

What Impacts Queue Time in Overwatch 2? Explained

Queue times in Overwatch 2 is now much better handled compared to its release. With a flock of players both new and old overwhelming the servers at the time of its launch, Overwatch 2 queue times are now much less time consuming. This can depend on the role you are queuing up for, since there is only one tank for each team. This in itself tends to increase waiting times for this role specifically. DPS will also always have a high waiting time since it continues to be the most popular role to play as compared to supports.

The rank you are also is a factor into this. This is due to the higher ranked you are, the less inhabited the rank tends to be. The lowest ranks will see quicker matchmaking happen due to the sheer number in Platinum and lower.

Other aspects to consider is the time you are playing during and your team composition. For the latter, if you are partnered up with another three or four players, with five in total being the cap of a possible team, you will see longer queue times. This is because the game considers suiting your buddy composition up with the same or similar enough of an enemy set-up with their own.

On the other side, playing during the weekend and at certain times (before and after work hours, for example) will also either slow down or speed up the process since more players will be on in your server/location at certain times of the day and week.
