What Happens When you Type Mutton in Amanda the Adventurer? Explained

Is the Meat real?

Amanda the Adventurer is a Horror Game that will lure you in with its lure, as appropriately intended what with its Pied Piper connections. Whilst players will feel left perhaps unsatisfied with its ending, primarily due to the fact that nothing is really answered, its lore is something that is incredibly fascinating and impressive for a Horror Game in 2023. With so many questions left unanswered, there is something that remains at the forefront in a lot of people’s thoughts – who exactly is Wooly? It is incredibly difficult to know whether or not you can trust this character. Is he as honest and kind as he initially appears, or is he more of a Wolf in Sheep’s clothing? No one knows, but with a lot of references to Lamb/Sheep in Amanda the Adventurer, we have to wonder, is Wooly the victim here? This is Vincent’s guide on what happens when you answer with ‘Mutton’ in Amanda the Adventurer.

Unlike other children, Amanda has a real taste for Fruit. We see that the TV Show Cover has a real focus on an Apple, which is the first thing Amanda wants you to make in the Kitchen Tape – an Apple Pie. We later learn that the Peach appears to be Wooly’s Fruit, with it being on the Cover of ‘Herd of Mouth’ (Secret Dark Blue Tape) and it being outcasted from the rest of the Fruit in the Attic (poor Peach). But there is little that Amanda desires in regard to Meat. In fact the only time we see Amanda ‘eating’ Meat is in ‘The End‘ where she offers the player various types of Meat and Cheese (clearly from Wooly). Every link towards Meat is a gruesome and disturbing one.

In Alternate Tapes we see that Amanda appears scared of the Butchers, claiming that she does not want to be in there. There is something we have yet to uncover with Amanda’s fear of the Butchers. It could be that this is the home to all of the missing children as in the ‘Fateful End’, Riley is transformed into hanging meat, implying that the other hanging meat is other victims that have been lured into the VHS Tapes.

What Happens When ‘Mutton’ is Typed in?

At the beginning of the game and throughout you can make hints towards a more twisted view on Wooly. Inside the Kitchen Tape, you can suggest that you want to eat a Mutton Pie, which will terrify Wooly. Other times you can suggest that Wooly is on the chopping block, such as inside the Butchers where you can select Wooly after being given the choice of Meat for Wooly’s gift. Why would Wooly want Meat as a gift anyway? When you head to the Petting Zoo, Wooly does not want to see the Sheep Farm. We see that once we enter the Sheep Farm, Wooly is stripped of his self awareness and consciousness, reverting back into behavior only seen of a real life Sheep. He is happily eating grass, but still appears differently to the other Sheep in the pen.

After some thought, I wondered if the Sheep were related to the missing children. In fact, the Barn reacts negatively to you heading to the Sheep, where the eyes veer slowly to the left, looking right at you before the screen changes over. Both of these ‘characters’, the Barn and Wooly have sentience, whether that means that they are a victim to the Tape’s curse or placed there to keep Amanda company is unsure but their negative reaction to the Sheep pen is evident. I sometimes wonder if there is something more sinister going on in the sense of the Sheeps identities.

We assume that the Fox represents Sam Colton and the Kitten, Rebecca Colton, but seeing that we are unsure about Wooly, can we assume that the other animals we see in the game are not code/animations but parts of the missing children, perhaps representing their body whilst their souls are entrapped inside the peering googly eyes placed on the TV Show Sets.
