V Rising: Most Valuable Resources and Where to Find Them

Different kinds of resources are necessary to enrich your territory.

Everyone thinks being a vampire lord is all about lounging around in your castle drinking blood and brooding. Maybe if you’re a lousy vampire lord, but if you want to be a proper one who knows how to develop your territory, you have to get your hands dirty.

Here are some of the most valuable resources in V Rising and where to find them.

V Rising: Most Valuable Resources and Where to Find Them

Different kinds of resources are necessary to enrich your territory, construct new equipment and buildings, and generally develop your domain into an impenetrable fortress of darkness. You should be on the lookout for the following list of resources as you travel the land:

  • Copper
  • Silver
  • Quartz
  • Fish Oil
  • Iron
  • Grave Dust
  • Gem Dust

Copper

Copper is your vital lifeline of farming and development in the early game. By harvesting copper ore from the Abandoned Copper Mine and Bandit Copper Mine using a Reinforced Bone (which you can craft at a workbench), you can then obtain Copper Ingots by tossing them into a smelter. Copper Ingots are necessary for the creation of Copper Tools, as well as certain construction projects.

Silver

Not all that glitters is gold. Silver ore is a valuable commodity, useful for bartering with merchants, as well as constructing certain late-game items. You can find the ore in abundance in the Silverlight Hills. However, we’re playing by vampire hunter rules here, so the presence of silver is highly toxic to vampires. Just carrying it on your person inflicts damage over time that can and will kill you, and faster if you’re carrying more of it. Only grab a little, and offload it quickly.

Quartz

A humble mineral, but an important one nonetheless. Quartz can be refined into glass in a furnace, a surprisingly rare resource in itself that’s required to construct windows, a surprisingly vital thing when sunlight is your enemy. You can harvest the stuff throughout the Dunley Farmlands, though it does have a higher concentration in Dawnbreak Village.

Fish Oil

No, it’s not for your daily supply of omega-3s, it’s for crafting. Fish Oil is used in the creation of the highest-level Leather items, which you’ll want for both defense and commerce in the late game. You can get Fish Oil from crates, fishing, and killing aquatic monsters around the Dunley Farmlands, particularly in Mosswick Village.

Iron

Whether you’re farming or building, nothing gets the job done like old-fashioned iron. Iron tools and weapons are the next level up from Copper tools. You’ll find iron ore deposits in high supply around the Dunley Farmlands, though you will need explosives crafted from Sulfur Ore to harvest them.

Grave Dust

Defiling the dead is part and parcel of the vampire lifestyle. Grave Dust is necessary for the creation of Scourgestone, which in turn is necessary for the creation of Dark Silver, a special kind of silver you can hold without taking damage. You can get Grave Dust by defeating skeletal enemies that hang around graveyards and cemeteries. You can also toss 100 Bones into a Grinder in your castle to get some Grave Dust.

Gem Dust

Gems are great conduits for magic, more so when they’re ground into a fine powder. Gem Dust is necessary to create various late-game magical items, one of the most important being the Vampire Waygate necessary for fast traveling. You can get Gem Dust by dumping miscellaneous gems into your castle’s Grinder. If you’ve got any gems you don’t need, just chuck ’em in there.

While this isn’t an exhaustive list of V Rising’s vital resources, these are all definitely ones you should make a priority of obtaining. You don’t want to be a vampire lord living in a half-built castle with no windows, do you? That’d just be silly.
