Horror games have become plenty over the last few years, with studios finally giving the genre more credit, creating some truly great games as time goes on. But as we see more and more horror games released, it can be difficult to parse which ones are going to be the best to look out for.
Luckily, we’ve managed to dig deep and land on the top 5 of the most anticipated upcoming horror games that are going to be released starting in late 2022 and throughout 2023. So, let’s check them out!
Top 5 Most Anticipated Upcoming Horror Games (2022/2023)
Though over the next couple of months we’re going to see a lot of great horror titles, there are 5 in particular that have gamers salivating as they wait for their releases. It’s worth noting that Scorn is unfortunately not going to make this list as it releases a day after this list goes live, and it just wouldn’t make sense to place it, even though it is extremely anticipated by the horror player base.
The Outlast Trials – 10.28.22
First on our list is the upcoming third installment of the Outlast series, The Outlast Trials. This new entry is a multiplayer title where players are going to cooperate and compete in horrifying events akin to the ones fans of the Saw film franchise will be familiar with.
The Callisto Protocol – 12.2.22
If you’ve missed the sci-fi horror series, Dead Space, then The Callisto Protocol should definitely be on your radar. It’s going to be an even gorier experience and a cinematic one at that, with a setup and premise you won’t want to miss.
Dead Space (Remake) – 1.27.23
But if you actually wanted a legit Dead Space game, then you’d be happy to know (if you don’t already) that the first Dead Space game is receiving a remake that’s slated for the beginning of 2023, offering players the best visuals we’ve ever seen from the franchise.

Resident Evil 4 (Remake) 3.24.23
Yet another remake on our list, Capcom’s fan-favorite Resident Evil 4 is getting a from-the-ground-up remake, placing players in the role of Leon Kennedy, yet again. For those who haven’t played the game on the first go around, this is going to be a standout.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre – TBA
If you are or were a fan of the ill-fated Friday the 13th: The Game, then you’ll be happy to know that there’s a new game in development that’s similar to that title though takes place within the gory world of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Not too much has been said about this one, but that just adds to its mystique.
Those are all of the most anticipated upcoming horror games that are going to be released over the next year! Be sure to check out some of our other horror-themed lists for more haunted goodness as the year goes on!
