Minecraft has a lot of hostile mobs. And you don’t really want to get on their bad side. However, just like everything, each mob has a weakness that you can exploit if you’re having trouble, or have just started the game. Here is the top 10 Minecraft hostile mobs and their weaknesses. Be sure to take note of any you didn’t already know
The Top 10 Weakness of Minecraft’s Hostile Mobs
Creeper
One of the best bugs to hit Minecraft (or worst, depending on your stance). These kamikaze creatures are the icon of Minecraft, and the most destructive. There is only really one other method to mitigate the damage done from creepers aside from simply running like hell.
Shields. Those things can block more than just projectiles, they can also block all damage from explosions, no matter how close you are. It will take a toll on the shield, but that’s what it’s there for.
Spider
Spiders are interesting things with unique abilities and behavior. Passive during the day and able to climb walls, these critters add variety to the mob roster.
One thing about spiders, though, is that they cannot move through a one block space. Being large, they are 2 x 2 blocks wide, so simple barricades will keep them bay and locked up.
They can still climb, however, so keep that into account when throwing up a quick defence. Oh, and never let them gain the high ground.
Skeleton
Skeletons are crafty, ranged, and irritating. They will snipe you from a distance, and ping you some more as you cross the distance.
Aside from simply using a shield, there is another tactic you can use to exploit their flying projectiles. If there is another hostile mob (not all mobs will behave in this way) such as a zombie or spider, maneuver behind them. The skeleton will still shoot and will hit them instead.
Angered, the mob will turn around to assault the skeleton, which will engage them in an entertaining fight. This is best done with two skeletons if you want to see a shoot-off.
Witch
Witches are a nasty piece of work. No matter your armor, they will inflict you with all matters of ailments to whittle your health down.
To negate the effect of their poison and slowness, make sure you have a milk bucket or two, or have a cow nearby, to get rid of the effects of the potions upon drinking it.
However, it is always best to engage with a ranged weapon rather than a melee, n matter how many milk buckets you have.
Hoglin
The big beasts of the Nether. These charging monsters will bash you away before you can “oh no”. If you ever find yourself in confrontation with a Hoglin, then you’d better have a paramount item on your person.
The Hoglins will run away if you place it down. It’s basically your Uno reverse card.

Blaze
If you venture into a Nether Fortress, you will doubtlessly see the fiery plumes of the blazes. They surround their spawners, ready to barrage you will hellfire.
They say water doesn’t exist in the Nether that may be true, but it doesn’t mean you can’t smuggle in snowballs. Such an alien item to the blazes is exactly what their weakness is.
Unlike in the Overworld, throwing a snowball at a blaze actively harms them, and makes for a fantastic blaze extinguisher. Make sure to bring a few stacks if you’re on the hunt for blaze rods!
Wither Skeleton
Also in the Nether Fortress are the tall and terrifying Wither Skeletons. Don’t let their stone swords fool you, their wither effect will bring you down to size.
funnily enough, their size is their downfall. With you being 2 blocks tall and them bring 3 blocks tall means that you can creep into a 2 block-tall space and the Wither Skeletons will be powerless to do anything.
From your safe haven, you can attack the lanky monstrosities whilst remaining safe and sound. It may also be wise to bring a bucket of milk.
Endermen
One of the iconic creatures of the game, these multidimensional mobs are revered across the player base. Despite their powers, however, they have two major weaknesses.
Firstly, just like the Wither Skeletons, these guys are three blocks tall so can’t do anything if you are under a 2-block roof.
But most importantly, these guys also – for reasons unknown – hate water. Upon contact, they will suffer damage and teleport away. If you need a quick getaway from those looming monsters, just find a body of water or place down a water bucket.
Shulker
Those pesky box lurkers will inconvenience you at every turn, constantly shooting you with their levitating projectiles.
Now, you could bring a dozen buckets of milk to negate the effect, but you’ll soon be out and their attacks just keep on coming. Instead, bring a bucket of water for these guys, too.
Interestingly, if you submerge yourself in water, their levitation effect doesn’t work so well, as you stay grounded and in-place. If you see yourself levitating, float to the nearest wall and place some water above your head for you to lean into.
Ender dragon
The Ender Dragon. The final boss of Minecraft. Surely such a beast had no weakness, right? Well, you’d be highly surprised to know that the answer is utterly ridiculous.
Beds. That’s right, beds. Due to a mechanic where beds explode violently in dimensions where they cannot be used (The End and the Nether), you can place a bed under the Ender Dragon and attempt to sleep in it to cause heavy damage to the flying beast.
Yes, this is silly, and highly effective, so being some beds on your next Ender Dragon hunt!
