The DioField Chronicle: How To Play As Waltaquin

If you want to inflict debilitating status effects on large groups of enemies, Waltaquin is just the magicker for you.

As with any good RPG, The DioField Chronicle features a variety of debuffs you can inflict on your enemies. You can stun, poison, burn, and even freeze enemies in their tracks, and many characters even get a damage boost when attacking the afflicted. If status ailments are your cup of tea, then Waltaquin is one character you should always have in your lineup.

How To Play As Waltaquin

Waltaquin is the first Magicker-class unit you’ll have access to, and she’s a pretty potent addition to the team right away. For starters, she’s the first unit you’ll have that has healing abilities, which makes her very handy in a pinch. Hurried Heal may only restore 30% of a unit’s max health, but it’s more than enough when you’d been scrounging for HP Fragments up till then.

Where Waltaquin really comes into her own is with her status-afflicting abilities. She has a whole host of spells at her disposal that can undercut a group of enemies while also dishing out damage. Meteor Fall is one of her staples, raining fire down on a set area of the battlefield. Pair it with a skill like Andrias’ Leaping Attack to immobilize enemies in the burning area, damaging them further.

Waltaquin’s abilities further enhance her debuffs while also keeping her energy points topped off. Extend Effect adds additional time to her continuous effects, making it much easier for her to utilize her Pandemic skill to its fullest extent. She can even inflict the Weakness debuff without the need for a skill thanks to the Enhanced Auto-Attack & Weakness ability.

Waltaquin makes a great partner for Andrias and Fredret, as her debuffs suit their abilities beautifully. Both gain bonus damage against enemies afflicted with status ailments, and Andrias’ Shadow Step ability deals additional damage to status-afflicted enemies as well. They’ll also help keep enemies away from Waltaquin herself, as she doesn’t boast the best defensive or health stats.
