SpellForce: Conquest of Eo – Starting Locations Guide

Ready to dive into the SpellForce: Conquest of Eo adventure? Choosing your starting location is important to your gameplay experience.

When you begin your adventure in SpellForce: Conquest of Eo, you’ll make several choices about your character and starting location. In this game, SpellForce starting location is key to your game experience and the type of adventures you’ll have.

As you can tell from the Archetypes, some characters will adapt more naturally to certain landscapes, but you are not bound to do so. You can be an Alchemist who works in the Misty Coast, for example. The various challenges listed about each starting location will give you an idea about the type of game you’ll be playing should you choose each location.

Every location has different challenge ratings as well, which you select in addition to your game difficulty level.

SpellForce: Conquest of Eo Starting Locations List

There are five potential starting locations in SpellForce. They are as follows and listed in order of difficulty (called challenge rating), easiest to hardest:

Goldenfields

Goldenfields is located in a valley. It’s very reminiscent of the Shire, if you’re a Lord of the Rings fan! It’s an easier starting location (“Pleasant”), ideal for players in it for the narrative. Your enemies in Goldenfields include Insects, Bandits, and Goblins — as the Insects have decided to damage the crops.

There isn’t much Ore here, but there are many Plants available, which are crucial to your success in the game. It’s considered a central region with towns and such present. Towns provide opportunities to experience story and relax.

Alluvyan

Alluvyan is an Elven region which has lakes and forested areas. Your main threats here are wildlife and New Purity members — they’re religious fanatics. In this setting, it’s easy to mistake them for guards, but they are actually enemies and you should fight or avoid them! You have many plant resources here, and it’s a centralized location.

The challenge rating for Alluvyan is considered medium. (I am terrible at calculated combat in games and started here on Exploration level and did fine — so don’t be deterred by the challenge rating if you want to start out in a cool place with Elves.)

Draycott

Draycott is the Dwarven realm of the north. It’s frosty and mountainous. You will be fighting Dwarves here thanks to a rebellion, and there are also some fascinating Monsters and Mountain Beasts (some are different than you’ll find in Alluvyan).

As you could expect, there is Ore galore here in the mined mountains, and the region is considered remote.

Gillyshire

Gillyshire is an area consumed by war. If you want combat and can handle an area with a tough challenge rating, consider this as your starting point. You’ll fight Undead and Orcs here. The scenery is quite war-torn and rugged, and the region is considered remote.

You will find Iron Deposits, which are necessary in a combat-heavy zone, and certain flora cultivated by the locals.

Misty Coast

The Misty Coast is a beautiful and misty starting region, but it comes with a cost: the challenge rating is Brutal. There are Swamp Monsters and Orcs everywhere, the plants are corrupted, but you’ll find plenty of lore. It’s considered remote and coastal. Your goal here is to defend a small settlement that has few resources to offer.

The difference between the Gillyshire and Misty Coast challenge ratings is great, so I do not recommend this one as a starting location until you’ve learned how to do combat in the game.

After playing through multiple settings to find them, I have my favorites, and you probably will too. However, a big part of the game’s replayability lies in the variety of settings. You’re able to save multiple games, so you might want to save one in every setting to suit your mood.
