Should you Pick up Energy Converters in The Callisto Protocol?

There's a Star Wars joke in there somewhere.

The Black Iron Prison in The Callisto Protocol is absolutely lousy with loose technology. When you’ve got a monster infestation going on in a remote outpost in space, it’s kind of a given that your uncle’s junk drawer is going to end up scattered all over the floor. One of the loose gizmos you can pick up while exploring are Energy Converters, but should you pick up Energy Converters in The Callisto Protocol?

Should you Pick up Energy Converters in The Callisto Protocol?

The answer is yes, if you have the open inventory space for it. Energy Converters, much like every other piece of scrap technology you can find around Black Iron Prison, don’t serve a practical purpose but can be traded in for vital Callisto Credits at a Reforge.

Callisto Credits are required to upgrade your weapons and equipment, and you won’t find many of them just lying around to pick up. Ergo, hocking whatever assorted trash you find on the ground, Energy Converters included, is an important factor in the core gameplay loop.

Maintaining Your Inventory

Of course, you only have so much space to store stuff in your inventory. An entire pouch of Energy Converters won’t help when you’re out of ammo and on the uh-oh end of a monster’s claws. You should carefully divvy up your inventory space so you have some leeway for junk, while still leaving plenty of room for vital things like healing and ammo. Don’t forget to make regular stops at the Reforge to get rid of anything you don’t need, too. Until you trade in those Energy Converters, they’re just unclaimed credits.

Money makes the world go ’round, even in a monster-infested prison on a moon. You wanna survive, you need a side hustle, and that means picking up trash like Energy Converters.
