Project Zomboid – How to Cure Infected Wound

Tell me doctor, how bad is it?

Zombie survival is just another genre nowadays, just like RPGs and FPSs. Really, there are countless games out there that have the swarm of the undead as a unifying thread. If you ever wonder what is it like to live in a post-apocalyptic world where death is just part of the daily routine, and surviving is just the best thing you can do in general, then Project Zomboid is the game for you. Here is how to cure an infected wound in Project Zomboid.

How to Cure Infected Wound

There are two ways that a wound can get infected. A normal infection and a zombie infected wound. A normal infection can be treated, and the character infected can survive most of the time. With a zombie infection, though, you have merely 48 hours before you turn into a zombie. Take that in mind because the game will not tell you which type of infection you have. Oh, but surely you will find out, eventually. Here is how to cure an infected wound in Project Zomboid.

  • Be sure to disinfect the wound with, oh surprise, a bottle of disinfectant. You can also use items such as alcohol, garlic and even craft healing balms if you have the necessary skills.
  • In order to do the above, head to the Health tab, where you will find information in every injury you have sustained and where they are located. Right-click on the injury you wish to treat and click the Disinfect option if you have the required item.
  • Afterwards, be sure to bandage that wound with actual bandages or adhesive bandages. If you lack those, you can also you a piece of clothing to use as a bandage. Just look in your Inventory, right-click on the piece of clothing and choose Rip Clothing.
  • Do the same thing as Disinfecting a wound in the Health tab and click the Bandage option instead to choose an eligible item to bandage your injury.
  • Things will hopefully get better from now on. If not, be sure to keep your character well rested and surrounded with food. Refrain from doing any physical activities and just wait for any fever or infection to pass.
  • Replace the bandages with new ones, or clean the ones you have applied on a water source to keep your wound from getting dirty. On the Health tab, just click Remove Dirty Bandage and then replace it with the new one.

This game is pretty realistic when assessing a wound, huh? Well, apart from the whole zombie apocalypse and possible zombie virus infection, of course. Be sure to take care of your character and, if everything fails, bid him or her farewell. The world is sometimes very cruel indeed. Good luck!
