Potion Craft – How to Make Acid

Who doesn't like melting stuff?

Here’s a fun science fact: hydrochloric acid is believed to have been discovered as early as around 900 CE by alchemists conducting experiments with ammonium chloride. Apparently, though, these early experiments were less about melting stuff and more about inducing color changes. Science is weird like that sometimes. If you’d like to follow in these weird footsteps, then here’s how to make Acid in Potion Craft.

Potion Craft – How to Make Acid

Creating a potion with the Acid effect is a requirement of The Alchemist’s Path in Chapter V of Potion Craft’s main campaign. Obviously, any potion with the Acid effect will corrode and melt away any material it touches, and it’s associated with Fire and Death on the compass. Cheery. There are a few different potions you can make with the Acid effect, some with other effects stacked on top like Poison, but as long as the Acid is there, it still counts toward the goal.

At this point of the game, you’ve likely got a sizable cache of ingredients to choose from as well as a good idea of how those ingredients interact with your various tools. You should try to experiment a bit with what you know to find a cost-effective way of making Acid, but if you’re in a rush, we’ve got a couple of recipes you can try.

Acid Potion Recipes

The easiest recipe for a Potion of Acid requires 4 Terraria and 6 Firebell, as well as this procedure:

  1. Start with a Water Base in the cauldron, then grind up and add 1 Terraria.
  2. Grind up and add 2 Firebells.
  3. Grind up and add a Terraria, then a Firebell, then a Terraria, then a Firebell.
  4. Stir the mixture 100 times.
  5. Add another ground Firebell and stir 13 times.
  6. Add another ground Firebell.
  7. Add a Terraria that’s only been ground 13%, then stir 22 times.
  8. Hit it with the bellows 3 times, and you’re done.

If you’re running low on Firebell, you can ditch 1 and substitute the other 3 for 2 Red Mushrooms and 1 extra Terraria, as well as this procedure:

  • Grind up and add 1 Red Mushroom to the cauldron.
  • Grind up and add 1 Firebell.
  • Grind up and add 2 Terraria.
  • Add 1 whole Firebell, no grinding at all.
  • Grind up and add 2 Terraria.
  • Grind up and add 1 Red Mushroom.
  • Add 1 whole Terraria, no grinding, and you’re done.

However you go about doing it, as long as the resulting potion has the Acid effect, you’re good to go. That’s another fun thing about science: it’s more flexible than you realize.
