What is a Space Time Distortion in Pokemon Legends Arceus?

What is the weird Space Time Distortion all about?

Whether in the present as the Sinnoh region or the past as the Hisui region, the setting of Pokemon Legends Arceus is absolutely lousy with mysterious phenomena. Seeing as how a rip in the space time continuum is what brings our protagonist back from the present into the past of the Hisui region, it’s not especially surprising that the concepts of time and space are playing a bit fast and loose at the moment. Tears in reality are popping up all over the place, but though they’re dangerous, there are rewards to be found within. So, what is a Space Time Distortion in Pokemon Legends Arceus?

After you successfully calm the Noble Kleavor in the Obsidian Fieldlands, you’ll start receiving notifications of random Space Time Distortions forming in your vicinity when you’re out in the wild. A Space Time Distortion is identifiable by a large, semi-translucent dome with a purplish tint that appears out of thin air. When the Space Time Distortion starts forming, you’ll receive a visual notification, as well as a swirly marker on your map. Nothing will happen if you enter the dome at this point, though. The cool part is still to come.

When the Space Time Distortion appears for real, you’ll get a second notification, and that’s when things start getting weird. If you’re inside the dome, Pokemon of all kinds of shapes, sizes, Types, and levels will begin appearing out of nowhere. When I say all kinds, I really mean all kinds, even ones that aren’t supposed to exist in the Hisui region like Porygon.

Be careful, though; these Pokemon are almost always aggressive and usually have high levels. If one of them picks a fight with you, chances are good others will immediately follow suit. If you’re under sustained attack, you’ll want to exit the dome as quickly as possible, as they won’t be able to follow you. You can also throw down a Smoke Bomb and hide in some grass within the dome if you don’t want to leave. Either way, these Pokemon can all be caught, provided you’re brave and resourceful enough.

In addition to the Pokemon, items will appear en masse within the Space Time Distortion, absolutely littering the ground. These items can include simple things like plants and medicines, valuables like Stardust and colored Plates, and perhaps most importantly, evolutionary items like Rhyperior’s Protector or PorygonZ’s Dubious Disc. If you get a notification that a Space Time Distortion is forming, you’d do well to fast travel to the nearest base camp and clear out your satchel, as you’ll want as much space in there as possible to gather up goodies.

After a few minutes, the Space Time Distortion will fade away, and any unusual Pokemon and items within will disappear. Unfortunately, there’s no hard and fast way to guarantee the appearance of the Space Time Distortion in Pokemon Legends Arceus; you’ll just have to wait for that first signal to know when the fun is beginning.
