Compared to the regular Pokemon games, it’s a teensy bit easier to encounter Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Arceus, if only because there are more ways to fudge the odds of finding one in your favor. One of those ways is the Shiny Charm, a special item that, when held, boosts the rate at which Shiny Pokemon appear. Unfortunately, if you want one, you’re gonna have to put in a lot of effort. Here’s how to get the Shiny Charm in Pokemon Legends Arceus.
How to Get the Shiny Charm in Pokemon Legends Arceus
The only way to obtain a Shiny Charm is to complete the entire Hisui PokeDex. To clarify, when we say “complete,” that means you need to not only register all 242 Pokemon in the region, but you also need to check enough research tasks to get every single one of their research levels up to 10, marking them as complete and unlocking their full Dex entries. You literally can’t even attempt this until after you’ve beaten the main story, so don’t even bother trying until then.
Once the PokeDex is complete, simply go visit Professor Laventon at Galaxy Hall in Jubilife Village, and he’ll reward you with the Shiny Charm for a job well done.
If you’re curious, your odds of finding a shiny Pokemon are normally about 1 in 4,096. Completing a Pokemon’s Dex entry improve’s that particular Pokemon’s shiny chances to 1 in 2,048, and further to 1 in 1,024 if you do all of their research tasks. If you add the Shiny Charm to all of that, then your odds of encountering a Shiny Pokemon with a completed Dex entry improve to a much more manageable 1 in 585, and that’s not even factoring in the shiny boost that comes from Mass Outbreaks. If you’re a shiny hunter, you definitely want to get all of this stuff done.
