Due to the timeline of Hisui becoming Sinnoh, some legendary Pokemon may not be accessible in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and that’s assuming they even exist yet. However, as many legendaries embody primal forces, there are definitely plenty around. You just need to know where to look for them and, in the case of Shaymin, have a certain prerequisite fulfilled. Here’s how to get Shaymin in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
First and foremost, there are two prerequisites you need to have fulfilled in order to make Shaymin appear, and one is a bit more metatextual than the other. First and foremost, you need to have cleared Pokemon Legends: Arceus’ story and watched the credits roll. Secondly, and more importantly, you need to have save data on your Switch from either Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield. No save data, no Shaymin.
How to Get Shaymin in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
To get Shaymin in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
- Beat the story and have Pokemon Sword/Shield save data on your Switch
- Accept the request “A Token of Gratitude”
- Find the Gracidea Flower patch in Floaro Gardens in the Obsidian Fieldlands to find Shaymin
If you’ve got the prerequisites fulfilled, then after you beat the story, you should be able to accept a new request from Laventon’s chalkboard in the Galaxy HQ titled “A Token of Gratitude.” Medi, a member of the Diamond Clan, will ask you to locate a particular Pokemon within the Obsidian Fieldlands, giving you a Gracidea Flower as a clue to where it appears.
If you look within the Floaro Gardens, you should see a patch of Gracidea Flowers growing on the ground. Inspect them, and Shaymin will appear, with Medi confirming you’ve found the right one. You can attempt to catch it at this point, though it’s a bit skittish and may run away. If that happens, just exit and reenter the area to make it respawn.
Incidentally, Shaymin appears in its Land Forme, but if you use the Gracidea Flower on it from the Key Items tab of your satchel, you can switch it over to its Sky Forme. To switch it back, just use the Gracidea Flower on it again.
