Pokémon Legends: Arceus?

Can You Get Mewtwo in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?

Encountering and catching Mewtwo was one of the major goals of the first generation of Pokémon games, which is why it’s become such an enduring staple of the franchise. Everyone wants a Mewtwo; it’s a cool psychic cat thing that floats around and messes with peoples’ minds. Naturally, with the subsequent release of every new Pokémon game, Pokémon Legends: Arceus included, people want to know if and when they can catch Mewtwo once again. So, can you get Mewtwo in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?

Can You Get Mewtwo in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?

Unfortunately, the answer to that question is no. Mewtwo is not present in the Hisui Dex in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and if you asked any veteran Pokémon player, they can quickly tell you why: because it doesn’t exist yet. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is set in the distant past of the Pokémon world, in a time when humans and Pokémon barely interacted with one another. Mewtwo, meanwhile, is an entirely artificial Pokémon created in a laboratory as a result of numerous genetic engineering experiments. Mewtwo is not a naturally-occurring Pokémon, so there’s no way for it to show up in the Hisui region.

In absolute fairness, though, depending on the extent to which the developers focus on Pokémon Legends: Arceus post-launch, Mewtwo could be added to the Dex at a later date. After all, your own protagonist is a modern-day Pokémon trainer brought back to Hisui by some mysterious phenomenon, so it stands to reason that such a phenomenon could bring Mewtwo back as well. At least, if the game sells well enough to warrant such a development.
