Magikarp can be found in multiple water areas, but the large lake east of Horseshoe Plains is one of the first places you encounter him. This spot is toward the far east side of the Obsidian Fieldlands. Magikarps are pretty easy to spot since they stand out like a sore thumb in the water. Magikarp may be the first water Pokemon you encounter, so you will need to try and get him within range to catch.

How to Catch Magikarp in Pokemon Legends Arceus

Although you can catch Magikarp early on in the game, he isn’t the easiest Pokemon to get. Since Magikarp is a water Pokemon, there is no use trying to sneak up on him. Instead of sneaking, you will want to lure Magikarp closer to you with fruits. It will take a few fruits to get him close, and likely a few Pokeball throws as well since he will see you, and his direct capture chance will be lowered.
