How to Earn More Stars in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, your standing within the Galaxy Team is determined by your star ranking. When you first arrive in Hisui, fresh out of a giant hole in the sky, and join the Galaxy Team, you have no stars to your name. After all, no one’s gonna trust some mysterious 15-year-old with much of anything. To get access to more features and utilities, you gotta raise that star rank. Here’s how to earn more stars in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Your star rank is intrinsically tied to your completion of the Hisui Pokédex. Aiding in the Dex’s completion was the entire reason Laventon vouched for you, after all, so it only makes sense that that’d be your first and foremost duty. Whenever you make progress on the Dex, you can give a report to Laventon at one of your base camps, where he’ll offer you star points. When you earn enough star points, you can go see Cyllene at the Galaxy HQ to rank up your stars, which will earn you new PokéBall permissions and recipes, as well as ensure higher level Pokémon listen to you.

How to Earn More Stars in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

The best way to earn more star points, and by extension more stars, is to complete lots of Dex research tasks. Remember, this is the very first Pokédex, so they need a lot of information. In addition to just catching Pokémon, you need to battle them, train them, see them use certain moves, feed them food, and more. As you complete research tasks, the completion level of every Pokémon’s Dex entry will increase, and if you can bring it up to level 10, then their Dex entry is officially marked complete, which will give you a big payout of star points.

You’ll need certain star ranks to enter more dangerous areas, so if you find your progression blocked, remember these points to get more stars:

  1. Catch everything. Catching multiples of the same Pokémon is baseline research, so don’t hesitate to catch ‘em all. You should also try to catch larger/smaller specimens, and specifically catch them when they’re not aware of you.
  2. Battle everything with everything else. Engaging Pokémon in battle is another major research component. Even if a Pokémon is substantially weaker than you, as long as you beat it, it counts toward your research. Remember that if you need to see a Pokémon use a certain move, you can catch them and have them use it yourself.
  3. Backtrack. As you progress in the story, you’ll gain new Pokémon mounts, which in turn may give you access to parts of previous maps you couldn’t reach previously. You may uncover Pokémon you missed out on the first go around.
