Diwali is a holiday typically celebrated in the middle east that begins this Thursday, November 4th. Colloquially known as the Festival of Lights, it’s an occasion to pray for future prosperity, rid yourself of dark thoughts, and most of all, spread joy with a myriad of colorful lights and fireworks. Whether you live in that neck of the woods or not, there’s always time for another holiday, especially one that yields cool stuff in Pokémon GO. Here’s your guide to the Pokémon GO Festival of Lights event.

The Pokémon GO Festival of Lights Event will begin this Thursday, November 4th, at 10:00 AM local time, and last until November 14th at 8:00 PM local time. While the event is running, certain Pokémon will be occurring more frequently in the wild, and players will reap bonuses related to gifts and friendship.

For the duration of the event, any Pokémon you bring around with you as your buddy will have its friendship level increase at a faster rate. You’ll also be able to open up to 45 gifts from friends per day, with the rewards within increasing. Players living in India will get a special bonus on Sunday, November 7: all catches will yield double candy, and Blitzle and Dedenne will be appearing more often.
