Old School Runescape (OSRS): Wyrm Guide

Wyrm Guide for OSRS

Wyrms are beautiful creatures and thankfully they don’t require the same necessary steps needed to protect yourself like dragons on Runescape. You don’t need Dragonfire protection or anything fancy when fighting them. You just need armor, the right slayer level, and access to the Wyrms. In this guide we’re going to teach you where to find Wyrms, what you should wear when fighting them, what you NEED, and what they drop. Follow this Wyrm guide if you want to master fighting Wyrms on OSRS.

How to Fight Wyrm’s in OSRS

Wyrm’s may appear dragon-like but they aren’t like the other dragons on OSRS. In order to fight a Wyrm you will need at least 62 Slayer. These monsters can drop items such as dragon sword and dragon harpoon so fighting them is pretty rewarding. They can also drop plenty of runes such as fire, earth, soul, and blood, as well as, some herbs. You will notice when you start a fight with a Wyrm they will slither on the ground at first and then levitate. This means that they use both magic and melee while fighting! It’s recommended that you use range and protect from magic while fighting them. Here’s the gear we recommend you should use when fighting Wyrm’s:

  • High leveled or your preferred range gear
  • Crossbow so you can wield a holy book for prayer bonus
  • Archer ring
  • Slayer Helm
  • Amulet of Fury

If you’re going the melee route, which we don’t really recommend but to each their own, you should think about what will offer you a prayer bonus. Think about armor that is weak to magic attacks. You also should think about weapons that offer stab attack style. We recommend bringing a dragon dagger or an abyssal dagger. If you choose to go the range route there is a safe spot you can find if you have a Wyrm slayer task. Head for the eastern alcove that can only be accessed if you have a slayer task activated. After attacking them for some time they will back off of you so you need to fight them again to make them furious.

Wyrm Location in OSRS

In order to get to the Wyrm’s you’re going to want to do a few things. The first way to gain access to Wyrm’s is by heading to the Slayer Dungeon in Karluum. To get to this dungeon you can either use the fairy rings to teleport by inputing the code CIS or you can use a skills necklace teleport to the farming guild. This is important to note if you do go to the dungeon! You need to be wearing boots of stone or granite boots to protect your feet from the dungeon floor. In order to purchase the boots of stone you can try buying them from a Slayer Master and be at least level 44 in Slayer to equip them. Another type of boot you can wear can be dropped by Wyverns at Fossil Island. We have a guide that teaches you how to get to the island!

Overall, Wyrm’s are easy to fight and don’t require anything special in order to fight them. The main thing you should worry about is wearing the proper armor and boots to avoid getting additional damage. We hope you enjoyed our guide on how to get Dragon Defender on OSRS.
