I’m no farmer, but I do know some basic tenets of the agriculture industry, and one of the most important is this: supply and demand. During certain seasons, certain kinds of fruits and vegetables become much harder to grow in large crops, which is why farmers have to charge a lot more for them to keep them profitable. This is why you can still technically buy a watermelon in December, but it’ll cost you an arm and a leg. Of course, if you’re on the receiving end of that cash, then it becomes quite the boon. So, what are the most profitable crops in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town?

Just like in real life, the four seasons of Story of Seasons have their own seasonal produce. While you should endeavor to grow as many different crops as possible on a regular basis for cooking and such, the demand for certain kinds of fruits and veggies shoots up as seasons pass, netting you much more gold should you decide to sell them off in bulk. If you can increase your farming level and the quality of your soil, those yields will only increase. Why do you think organic veggies cost so much?

Here’s a look at the most profitable crops in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town by season.

Spring

Spring time, the only pretty ring time. For Spring, your weapon of choice should be cucumbers. One cucumber usually sells for around 77 gold a pop, but because they regrow twice after their first harvest, you can make up for the basic price with extra bulk. A single cucumber seed can get you a good nine cucumbers in total if you take good care of it.

Summer

School’s out for the summer, and you can’t have Summer without pineapple. Pineapples are a little tricky, as you have to wait until one just sort of shows up on your farm, and then you have to ship it out. Once you do that, though, you can start getting seeds and planting them yourself.

Fall

You know what goes great with the Fall colors? Sweet Potatoes! Not only do sweet potatoes have the same multi-yield crop action as cucumbers, just one of them can sell for around 400 gold! A proper crop of these bad boys can fund Christmas for the whole year.

Winter

Speaking of Christmas, the gift that really keeps on giving is broccoli. Broccoli seeds are only available in the Winter, and can net you almost 150 gold a pop. Their real value shows up in the following season, though. Make sure to hold some broccoli seeds until your second year, ‘cause when Spring rolls around again, people are gonna be ravenous for broccoli.
