So, here is everything you need to know about how to get and use a Sculk Sensor in Minecraft: The Wild update.

Minecraft – The Wild Update: How to get & use a sculk sensor

In laymen’s terms, a Sculk Sensor is a unique block that can be used to detect vibrations caused by various events or actions within a nine-block radius. These could be actions caused by the player or another nearby presence, like an animal shaking, an explosion or even just a door opening.

When activated, it will light up to indicate that something is close by, emitting a redstone signal. The closer the vibration is to where you are, the stronger the redstone emission.

When you’re in the Deep Dark biome, they are used alongside the Sculk Shrieker to alert the Warden that you have entered the vicinity. Although, there are various ways around this.

Here’s how you can get and use a Sculk Sensor in Minecraft: The Wild update.

How to Get a Sculk Sensor

There is only one location in the world of Minecraft that houses these Sculk Sensors. The Ancient Cities hidden within the Deep Dark biomes. So, you will need to first discover an Ancient City before you can begin searching for Sculk Sensors. The good news is that these blocks are easily identifiable once you’re there. They will carry a dark bluish-green texture and feature a wavy head on top of the block.

It is worth noting that the only way for you to carry around Sculk Sensors is if you have an item with the Silk Touch enchantment on it. Ideally, a Hoe for faster retrieval. While you can technically use any tool to mine these blocks, hoes are likely to be far more efficient.

How to use a Sculk Sensor

As previously mentioned, when you’re in the Ancient City, Sculk Sensors will be used to signal to the Warden that you are in the area. However, once you have retrieved them and are outside of the city, they serve a variety of purposes in the game. Most notably, they can be used to activate traps or other contraptions that don’t need to be constantly activated.

You can also use Wool Blocks to prevent Sculk Sensors from detecting nearby vibrations. This can be useful when you’re trying to retrieve them because the Warden will not be alerted when you’re close by. Meaning you can sneak in and obtain the block undetected.
