How Many Types of Tropical Fish Are There in Minecraft?

Tropical fish aren’t too hard to find once you know where to look! These pretty fish are naturally abundant in lush caves, mangrove swamps, and oceans in Minecraft. Tropical fish come in all different shapes and sizes and are easily some of the most gorgeous passive mobs in Minecraft; trying to track down and catalog every tropical fish type would be pointless, however.

There are currently 2,700 known tropical fish variants in Minecraft! It would take you a long time to count all those different types, let alone track them down. Good luck if you’re feeling up to the challenge!

How to Breed Tropical Fish in Minecraft

You can get almost anything to breed in Minecraft, and since there are many different types of tropical fish, many people are left wondering if you can breed them to get more variants. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to breed tropical fish in vanilla Minecraft. Unlike sheep and cows that can be bred using wheat, tropical fish remains one of the only mob types that cannot be bred to create offspring. There are, however, a few ways that you can get around this issue.
