Madden NFL 23: All Team Ratings and Rankings Revealed

Madden team ratings are typically based on the season that just passed while also taking into account things like recent free agent signings and draft picks. Which is why the 2021 Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers carried the top rating at launch for Madden NFL 22. While you probably already have a pretty good idea for who will be at the top in Madden NFL 23, there were certainly a few surprises as well.

My initial reaction to these ratings is that EA clearly overvalues legacy and prestige but undervalues talent and production. Despite losing their top pass-catcher, Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs are still considered to be an elite franchise. Yet, they’re not even the highest-rated team in their own division. While the Bengals (who made the Super Bowl last year) aren’t even in the top ten and ranked lower than their division rival Baltimore Ravens.

The Raiders have one of the few members in the coveted 99 Club but barely cracked the top 15 and the Titans were the No. 1 seed in the AFC a year ago but fell into the bottom half of the Madden NFL 23 rankings. I could go on, but I think you get the picture by now. These ratings aren’t all bad and they’re going to fluctuate over the course of the real-life NFL season anyway. However, I can’t say I’m overly impressed all things considered.
