Madden 23 may have bugs and glitches in the game, but it still stands as the only football simulator players want to play. One of the prime reasons for Madden’s decent success is the game’s authentic mechanics.
While EA messes up many things, it does a good share of things right. The latest Madden title includes many moves which accurately mimic the real-world scenarios in a live football game. One of the slickest moves in the game is stripping the ball. Here’s everything you need to know about how to strip the ball.
Madden 23 – How to Strip the Ball
Stripping the ball is an important move in American Football. Upon correct implementation, a defender snatches the ball from an opposing ball carrying player. It helps to dispossess and stop an incoming enemy attack.

To effectively strip the ball on different platforms, follow the controls below.
- For PC — Press the Space bar key.
- On Xbox Series X/S — Press the RB button on your controller.
- For PlayStation 5 — Tap the R1 button on your controller.
While it sounds easy to press a button for completing the move, you have to time everything well. Make sure you are close enough to the attacker before performing this defensive move. There are many variables, but stripping the ball isn’t the same against every player. You can judge the difficulty of performing this move by a player’s rating and reputation.
Keep in mind, it’s easier to perform this move on quarterbacks. However, we recommend not using this move unless absolutely necessary. Stripping the ball increases the risk of a facemask penalty.
That covers everything about stripping the ball in the game.
